to travel is an opportunity

Day 4 to 6: Mürren & Lauterbrunnen
This was our second time visiting Switzerland. The first time, we explored on our own, and we fell in love with the country for its picturesque beauty and the many fun things to do. This time, we wanted to return to get to know it better through a guided tour.
How our morning starts...
On our first day, we visited Schilthorn, a mountain summit in the Bernese Alps. We were grateful to have clear weather and enjoyed stunning views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau (a UNESCO World Heritage site), along with over 200 other peaks.
The cable car ride to the top was amazing. If you're a James Bond fan, you'll love the revolving restaurant at the summit, featured in the 1969 film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

A beautiful afternoon hike.
It was our free afternoon, and we choose to hiked the Northface Trail via Allmendhubel —one of my favorite hikes ever. Yay!

We started at the Schilthorn cable car station and followed the loop clockwise. The trail begins as a wide, paved path with an easy climb and a great view over Mürren right from the first hill.
It soon turns into a narrow dirt trail through farmland. This hike had a bit of everything—breathtaking mountain views, charming chalets, quiet alpine meadows full of wildflowers, and pastures with grazing cows. There were a few short climbs, but nothing was too hard -well, maybe some part.
The trail was well-marked, though I still used my AllTrails map just to be safe.

The mountains are calling!

The full 5.12-mile loop took us about 4 hours, including a lunch break along the way. The weather was perfect, and I couldn’t get enough of the changing scenery—pine forests, meadows, rustic homes, and those amazing mountain peaks.
A truly unforgettable hike!

Hello Lauterbrunnen

The next day, we explored Trümmelbach Falls in Lauterbrunnen Valley—another great experience.
We started with a ride on an inclined elevator that took us up to the sixth level inside the mountain. From there, we climbed narrow, winding steps and saw powerful waterfalls crashing through the rocks.

There are ten levels in total, and the higher you go, the more exciting it gets as the force of the water becomes even more intense. These glacier-fed waterfalls are hidden inside the mountain and made accessible by tunnels, stairs, and lights. A thrilling way to experience nature up close!

More of Lauterbrunnen
We then explored the beautiful Lauterbrunnen Valley. We hiked from the Reformed Church of Lauterbrunnen, a striking Gothic building overlooking the village offering an amazing valley views. From there, we walked past the cemetery near the famous Staubbach waterfall and followed an easy, flat trail—part paved, part gravel—back to Stechelberg, where we took a cable car back to Mürren. We also got to watch paragliders jumping off the cliffs along the way—so cool!

This place is a delight.

Where we stayed

Just look at that view from our room. We don't need to imagine waking up in the morning with a beautiful view anymore, because we lived in it for 3 days in this beautiful village, Murren.

On our last night in Mürren, Michael surprised us with some awesome local accordion and alphorn players! It was incredible as we jumped into a fun line dance, making unforgettable memories packed with laughter. What a night to remember!

Bye for now Switzerland. Into the next destination!
